Asus ROG Ally X Gaming Console to Launch on June 2

Asus ROG Ally X, the Taiwanese company’s incremental upgrade to the 2023 ROG Ally, is scheduled to launch on June 2, 2024.

According to media report, it will come with notable improvements to a few parts of Asus’ initial handheld gaming console, which debuted last year.

Media report says, the ROG Ally X will have a 7-inch display and an AMD processor similar to the one seen on the first-generation model, but it will also have additional RAM, a longer battery life, and compatibility for larger storage upgrades.

In a YouTube video, the company hinted to the Asus ROG Ally X’s impending release by claiming that it would come with significant hardware improvements.

The Verge spoke with Asus SVP Shawn Yen, who confirmed that the new handheld gaming console will launch on June 2. It will come with a much bigger battery, which is the most anticipated hardware update and could provide at least three hours of battery life.

In addition, the next Asus ROG Ally X will have more RAM than the first-generation console—more than 16GB. The X edition will be based on Windows 11 platform, powered by AMD Z1 Extreme chipset.

A longer M.2 2280 SSD slot—the 2023 model has an M.2 2230 slot—will let users to upgrade their ROG Ally X with more SSD storage, Yen added.

The report also stated that the improvements on the ASUS ROG Ally X will increase the cost of the device.

The Verge reports that the device will have a rebuilt motherboard, but there’s no word on whether the SD card reader problems that customers experienced have been fixed. Consequently, the part can be situated a greater distance from the ROG Ally X’s vents.

The manufacturer has said it will also give the gadget improved grips and optimize the joysticks, triggers, and D-Pad.

The upgraded ROG Ally X model, which is planned to launch next month, is anticipated to maintain some of the same characteristics as the original ROG Ally, including the 7-inch display and the AMD Z1 Extreme CPU.
