Microsoft Announces Xbox Games Showcase for June 9

Microsoft has scheduled a dedicated Direct event for an undisclosed title and an Xbox Games Showcase for its first-party titles in June. On June 9 at 10 a.m. PT (10:30 a.m. IST), Xbox’s YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook accounts will webcast the showcase.

Along with third-party Xbox games, the event will showcase an upcoming roster of games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios.

A Direct event that promises a “deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise” will take place after the Xbox Games Showcase.

Microsoft did not provide any information on the event, but The Verge reported—citing people acquainted with the company’s intentions—that the Call of Duty next installment would be the main focus of the Direct stream.

Microsoft’s first-party game lineup now includes the popular first-person shooter series, which was acquired by the Xbox parent company last year along with Activision-Blizzard, the company that makes Call of Duty.

The source also included information on a few games that might be unveiled or get updates during the Xbox Showcase.

It has been rumored that Microsoft plans to reveal a new Gears of War game on the occasion. An announcement on Gears of War 6 has long been expected. The previous Gears of War game, Gears 5, was released in 2019.

The launch date for Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion, as well as release dates for previously announced games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, are rumored to be disclosed at the presentation.

The expansion is aiming for a September release, while the upcoming Call of Duty is scheduled for an October release, according to the report. While Avowed and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 may release in November, Bethesda’s Indiana Jones is most likely scheduled to premiere in December during the holiday season.

Microsoft has not yet provided any information, but the showcase ought to provide additional insight into its upcoming first-party games. The event is probably going to provide additional information on Xbox’s 2025 game lineup. The Verge claims that there would be “a lot more games to show” at the event than at the showcase the previous year.
