Snapdragon X Elite outperforms Apple's M3 CPU in multi-core test
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, the company’s flagship processor, was discovered in a benchmark test and is anticipated to appear in laptops from well-known companies this year.
According to a listing for the rumored Surface Laptop 6 on Geekbench, in a CPU test, Microsoft’s next Surface laptop might outperform Apple’s MacBook Pro models running on its newest M3 chip. Microsoft may introduce Surface laptops with Snapdragon X Elite processors at a hardware presentation in May, based on recent sources.
Without an official product name, WCCFTech discovered the Surface Laptop 6 on Geekbench. With 12 cores and clocked at 4.01GHz, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset powers it; it is advertised under the label “OEMBR OEMBR Product Name MFG”. It is important to note that the Snapdragon X Elite comes in three flavors, and the one that was benchmarked wasn’t the strongest model—the XIE-84-100 variation, for example, has a boost clock speed of 4.20GHz.

The purported Surface Laptop 6 equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite processor scores 2,714 points in the single core and 14,078 points in the multicore. In Geekbench’s multi-core tests, this places the processor above Apple’s 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro, which received 3,103 and 12,065 points, respectively.
In the event that these benchmark tests are accurate, Apple’s M3 chip is expected to outperform the Snapdragon X Elite on the Surface Laptop 6 by 13.37%. Qualcomm’s processor, meanwhile, is demonstrated to be 15.4% quicker than the M3 MacBook Pro. After all, the M3 CPU from Apple has eight cores, whereas the Snapdragon processor has twelve.
These benchmarks should be regarded with caution because Microsoft has not yet revealed any intentions to release new Surface models that use Snapdragon laptop CPUs. Microsoft is reportedly certain that the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 can outperform the newest 3nm Apple Silicon processor, according to a recent report.
