Elon Musk’s X to Summarize News Events Using Grok AI

Grok, xAI’s chatbot, will be used by Elon Musk’s social network X to summarize news events inside the app.

The company revealed on May 3 that only premium customers will have access to the AI-generated summaries, which will be based on user tweets rather than news articles from outside sources, reports Gadgets360.

Although there are presently no news sources cited in the “Stories” feature, Musk promised the tech newsletter Big Technology that stronger citations are on the way.

Musk informed Big Technology, which had previously reported on the feature, that “the news summary will update to include that information as more information becomes available.”

Although Grok, the AI chatbot, is technically owned by X, it is actually a part of xAI, another one of Musk’s firms that is focused on artificial intelligence. He has been transparent about the fact that posts from X are used to train Grok.

Moments, a comparable product from X, formerly known as Twitter, was created by human moderators using their judgment to summarize news. The product was discontinued soon after Musk assumed leadership in late 2022.
